New Year's Eve, December 31, 2025 / January 1, 2026 | Orange Blossom Live Art Experience | South Beach, Miami New Year's Eve is a night that wants to be remembered and a night that, despite the intention, often blurs. The Orange Blossom event in South Beach gave that night a visual form with a lasting memory. Two original paintings, made live, in front of an audience that was itself part of the work.
I've done live painting at music events, at gallery openings, at ongoing residencies. New Year's Eve is has a specific emotional charge to the countdown, to the transition from one year to the next, to the moment an entire room decides to feel something simultaneously. This event was in collaboration with Tony Choy Music & Friends as DJ and host for the evening.
Full-Scale Blossom Live Art Painting 36"x48"
This artwork was crafted as an homage to the Orange Blossom brand, showcasing a lively blend of floral and golden hues. Its expansive dimensions ensure that all dinner guests can appreciate the painting as it comes to life.
Prep Work: Initial background lines and base colors were applied to establish the foundation for the painting prior to the event.
Real-Time Painting: The blossoms were painted live, introducing a dynamic aspect to the artwork as it evolved in front of the audience.
Custom Fashion Sketch Painting
The second painting invited audience members to engage with the art by becoming part of a custom fashion sketch. This interactive experience allowed attendees to witness themselves transformed into exquisite works of art.
Prep Work: Base textures and proportional forms were included to be customized.
Audience Participation: Enthusiastic guests willingly participated to be featured in the painting.
Customized Elements: The full-scale painting was designed to capture the unique essence of each guest's: Hair, Attire, Facial features in real time.
Event Setup
For the event setup, I brought extra paintings from previous collections to create a space that highlighted past illustrations and other artworks that matched the pink and gold color scheme, adding texture as requested by the owner. I brought my easel, paints, and a drop cloth. The setup took about 20 to 30 minutes, and takedown was completed in 15 minutes. Everything was transported in a cart that could be neatly stored away. Thanks to my painting style, the artworks were finished by the end of the night and ready to be taken home.
Both paintings are completed originals. They exist now as objects that carry inside them the energy of one particular South Beach NYE. I think that's the most honest thing a live painting can be.
